As well as an influx of foreign visitors, there is demand from residents in Britain taking advantage of an extra bank holiday turning the May Day weekend into a four day holiday.
Instead of paying these exorbitant rates, choose a hotel within an easy commute of London and pay just £60 - £100 per night for great accommodation.
